Hi, happy new year, I'm a Product Manager for a communications app that's currently in testflight. We requested the com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering entitlement on December 3rd, and have yet to receive a response from Apple. I understand that the holiday break may have gotten in the way, however it feels like we were lost in the queue as it's been 6 weeks with no response. Our app owner has checked-in inside appstoreconnect but has not received anything back.
Is this common? Is there any process for getting a status update?
Are we doing something wrong?
Without this entitlement we cannot make the device ring in the background. The app is a voice and video messaging platform.
Hi Apple Support team,
I would like to inform you that we were receiving push notifications to all regions. Recently we were facing push notifications are not receiving to brazil region. For all other regions we are receiving. We are using same APSN certificate. Any region specific permissions do we need to add. Please let me know. Thanks.
Hey everyone!
I'm trying to develop an app that would need to send periodic notifications (every 20 minutes, for instance) to the user even when the app is not running (but only when the phone is being used). I've been reading through the prior comments and all about not being able to have a timer run in the background in the way I need it to, but I wanted to ask if there's any way around this, or is there truly no way?
If there is no way to do this, I was just now considering another workaround, where I could try getting the time they open their phone, and from there, I schedule local notification for every 20 minutes or so for the entire day, and they keep sending until the phone is turned off, when the rest of the scheduled local notifications are cancelled. Is this possible?
I would also appreciate any other suggests/workarounds for this. Happy to provide any additional details needed!
Thanks!

Hello guys,
i need a little help. Im building an alarm clock app, pretty good one, and i have my own sounds i want to use as the alarm ring but notifications on apple cant work when the phone is turned off or the device is in silent mode (Or at least thats how i understand it) unless they have this feature called critical alerts that lets you have notifications even when the phone is turned off or silented. Without this, the phone can do just one beep and only when you open the notification, then it starts ringing but how is this supposed to wake you up? Alarmy has this worked out fine and i cant figure out how, maybe someone here knows. Im thinking maybe they have the critical alerts enabled but then i dont know why Apple would approve theirs and not mine. I tried to submit for the critical alerts feature but apple didn’t approve it saying the app is not the use case and im kinda lost. The whole app could be ruined because of this. So my question is. is there any way how i can use my custom sounds as a notifications on ios even if the phone is turned off or in silent mode+turned off and the app is not straight up running without being approved for critical alerts? Somehow like alarmy does it but i dont know if they have the critical alerts or not.
Thank you very much for any kind of help 🙏. For everyone whos reading this, take care!

We are trying to figure out a strange issue.
Our app has not changed for at least 10 months but my devices and the QA tester device have all stopped receiving push/call notifications for twilio voip
The twilio credential and apple voip services certificate are in date and valid
It is pointing to the correct bundle id and topic (not changed configuration for years)
token passed in to TwilioVoiceSDK.register() is retrieved from PKPushRegistry as per guide
Running locally the Twilio Voice SDK successfully registers and retrieves APNs token
What is interesting is if I log in with exactly the same client account on an iOS 18.5 device (and an older iPad) call notifications work perfectly (I have made sure all focus modes/dnd are off and notification settings are identical)
The only changes myself and QA have made recently is minor iOS 18 version updates - 18.6.2 and 18.7.1
These now receive Invalid device token from APNs when Twilio attempts to create a call/voip notification for the user identity
Our devices sometimes switch environments test/prod so I installed the app cleanly on a borrowed 18.6.2 device and got the exact same issue
We have tested on these devices most of the year with no issues.
I have been in touch with twilio support and added code to explicitly unregister and re register on an affected device to clear any bindings but it didn't help.
Have apple made any changes in PushKit or token behaviour for later versions of iOS 18?
Thanks
If a notification: ONE_TIME_CHARGE is used to ship the IAP content, it involves a point where the client might not finish the transaction, yet the item is shipped. Will an unfinished purchase affect refunds?

Background:
The project was created in Xcode 5, then recreated in new Xcode. Before migration, push notifications worked without issues, after migration device token stopped being extracted.
Problem:
iOS app registers for push notifications, but didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken or didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError methods are not being called.
Current situation:
App is registered for push notifications (isRegisteredForRemoteNotifications = true)
Notification permissions are granted
Entitlements are configured correctly (aps-environment: development)
Bundle ID: com.autoserviceonline.app
Team: BUSINESSVISION COMPANY, TOO (NS3FSG45V7)
But callback methods are not being called
What I've already tried:
Deleted and recreated all App IDs in Apple Developer Portal
Cleared Xcode cache and derived data
Created new APNs certificates and provisioning profiles
Removed "ghost" certificate from Keychain Access
Problem persists
Additional information:
Also noticed that Push Notifications Console opens non-existent project "BV.TestSwiftData" with Personal Team instead of current corporate App ID com.autoserviceonline.app. These issues might be related to project migration from old Xcode.
Request:
Why iOS doesn't call callback methods for device token, although registration was successful?

Me and many other users have issue with push notifications. To reproduce this you should do this steps:
Lock iPhone and make it idle for 10+ minutes;
Send any message from other device via third-party app that uses push notifications (WhatsApp, Telegram and etc.);
After few attempts you can see, that messages don't deliver. They delivers immediately when I unlock iPhone or go to the app.
This bug reproduces on iOS 18.7 and 27.
As I think iPhone goes to deep sleep after 10+ minutes after it locked and don't get push notifications. I've tried everything: many of settings, DFU without backup, but nothing helps to resolve this issue. Pay attention, please, cause this bug is very annoying and present on iOS 18.7 (that is the last for many devices) and latest iOS 26. Thanks!
I'm observing that when a silent push notification is sent to our app, is is started up in the background for 30 seconds before being suspended until the app is launched by the user. This causes data to persist from the silent push notification to the user app launch.
I couldn't find documentation on this behavior for silent push notifications, and was wondering if it's possible to have the app terminate after handling the silent push notification. Is there documentation on the general flow of silent push notifications as well?
I'm able to handle the edge cases if the app has to be suspended until user launch, but just want to confirm that this is the expected behavior before I go about handling it this way.
Is there anyway that I could use AVAudioSession, AVAudioPlayer or anything similar in Notification Service Extension?
I am trying to implement Audio Playback in the Notification Service Extension to play specific audio file when receiving Notification regardless the app state(foreground, background or killed), but I am not able to activate audio session in Notification Service Extension.
NSError *sessionError = nil;
BOOL success = [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory:AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayback error:&sessionError];
success = [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setActive:YES error:&sessionError];
if (!success) {
NSLog(@"Error activating audio session: %@", sessionError);
}
Below is the error that I got when I am trying to run the code above in Notification Service Extension.
Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=561015905 "Session activation failed" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Session activation failed}
This is in an iOS Simulator running iOS 18.2
I send a start live activity push notification from the Push Notifications Console on icloud.developer.apple.com. When checking the console.log output it seems to receive the message, yet the activity does not appear in the dynamic island. (the app is backgrounded when I test this)
Can anyone tell me why it's not showing? Starting the same activity from within the app using Swift code works fine.
Here is the console.app output:

Im creating a basic app, needs push notification capability. I have created two profiles (development & distribution), selected my app in Identifiers and checked the PN box to enable it (no need for broadcast). I add the profile to Xcode and it says "Provisioning profile "New VP App Jan 2026" doesn't include the Push Notifications capability."
What am I missing?

I created a Notification Service Extension to display profile images in place for the app image (i.e. iMessage).
I send a remote push notification via Firebase Functions, and in the payload, the relevant profile image url string. The profile image url string in the payload is successfully delivered as it appears in my console log and AppDelegate didReceiveRemoteNotification function.
My problem is the profile image does not replace the default app icon image in the remote push notification.
Below is my configuration. Any guidance would be appreciated!
Main target app: the info plist contains NSUSerActivityTypes = [INSendMessageIntent]. The Communications Notifications capability is enabled and "Copy only when installing" in Build Phases Embed Foundation Extensions

Hello,
we have a problem with fake call on iPhone device for incoming calls.
When I leave the iPhone in idle state for 30, 40 seconds and dialed voip app number the iPhone rings and there is no problem.
When I leave it in idle for longer time one minute or two minutes I get "Call Failed to Connect" on iPhone's display and after this fake call I get second call with real calling number displays on iPhone.
This first fake call is triggered by wake up push notification type 'voip'.
If I switched off this wake up push notification type 'voip' and device's token has not expired yet I don't get fake call and iPhone's directly displays calling number.
But in this situation we need to use wake up push notification type 'voip' on during a certain time to keep the device's token in our database and continuing to receive calling number without fake call.
If we switched off the wake up push notification type 'voip' on certain time we need to activate again wake up push notification type 'voip' for incoming calls to wake up the iPhone.
And in this way every time on every incoming call the iPhone's will display first fake call "Call Failed to connect" and after that the call with Calling number.
How we can eliminate this fake call and use only one wake up push notification only for incoming calls not use second type wake up push on certain time?
Thank you,
I paste here our code for this:
public ApnClient(IOptions settings)
{
var httpHandler = new HttpClientHandler()
{
ClientCertificates = { new X509Certificate2(certificate.Export(X509ContentType.Pfx)) },
};
ServicePointManager.SecurityProtocol = SecurityProtocolType.Tls13;
this.httpClient = new HttpClient(httpHandler)
{
DefaultRequestVersion = HttpVersion.Version20,
DefaultVersionPolicy = HttpVersionPolicy.RequestVersionOrHigher,
BaseAddress = new Uri(settings.Value.ApnProdBaseUri),
DefaultRequestHeaders =
{
{
"apns-topic", ApnsTopic
},
},
};
}
public async Task<bool> WakeUpDevice(string deviceToken, string callId)
{
this.requestContent = new StringContent(
$"{{\"aps\":{{\"content-available\":\"1\"}}}}",
System.Text.Encoding.UTF8,
"application/json");
var res = await this.httpClient.PostAsync($"/3/device/{deviceToken}", this.requestContent);
return res.IsSuccessStatusCode;
}
I have used the Push Notifications Console and verify that the test notification reaches my device (it says "not necessarily the app"). However, GameCenter notifications are not reaching the app. When one device passes the turn, the turn is successfully passed as seen in the Matchmaker VC. However, the app does not get the turn pass notification whether or not it is running. No banner appears if the app is not running (but it does when using the Push Notifications Console).
Please advise.

Hi all,
We encountered an issue where APNs (Apple Push Notification service) push messages cannot be received during development. The specific description is as follows:
Our app runs on an iPad that connects to the cellular network using a SIM card and accesses the Internet through the company's MDM, which provides APN setting proxies.
During operation, we found that the device fails to receive push messages from APNs. Network packet capture revealed that the connection attempt by apsd to port 5223 failed. According to Apple's documentation (https://support.apple.com/zh-cn/102266), when port 5223 cannot be connected to, it will fall back to port 443 and use a proxy. However, our packet capture showed that when port 5223 was unreachable, the apsd service on the iPad did not attempt to establish a connection to port 443.
Since the iPad device currently cannot establish a connection with APNs, it consistently fails to receive push messages from APNs. We tried disconnecting the SIM card and using a Wi-Fi environment, and in this case, the iPad device was able to receive push messages from APNs normally.
Could you advise us on how to proceed with troubleshooting in this situation?

Hi team,
We've observed that for all background notifications (where content-available set to true, https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/pushing-background-updates-to-your-app#Create-a-background-notification),
we never received any response with error string "Unregistered". This
differs from non-background pushes, where expired tokens are regularly
cleared.
Is this the expected behavior (i.e.,
background notifications will not return an "Unregistered" error), or could this indicate an issue on our side?
Thanks in advance for any clarification.
