Matter code to control a device?
I would like to explore developing apps to integrate with Matter, but it seems that there are limited code examples available. To start with I would like to create a MacOs or iOS application to control a Matter device like a light bulb. I would as an example just like to know how to turn the light on or off. Where should I start?

Issue with Sticker Pack Extension
I'm unable to have stickers show in messages even with a new iOS app and a sticker pack extension target. I do see the iMessage App Icon but after tapping it nothing shows and I see a warning: "Error creating the CFMessagePort needed to communicate with PPT" This was tested on simulator and on real device. Xcode 16.1 (16B40) iOS 18.1 & 18.2

Bluetooth peripheral factory reset
Hi, I'm developing a bluetooth peripheral. During factory reset I generate a new IRK and drop any bond information it has. When I then try to bond again with the device iOS returns bonding failed with 0x08 (unspecified reason). I assume that iOS somehow still thinks my reset device is the same as the device it has already bonded with. What information about the device is it using to draw this conclusion? Bonding works if I remove the "pre-reset" peripheral from the iOS list of bluetooth devices. Regards

NSFileProviderReplicatedExtension does not work in Shared iPad setup
Can be reproduced with a shared iPad setup (https://support.apple.com/de-de/guide/deployment/dep9a34c2ba2/web) and the example app provided by Apple (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/fileprovider/synchronizing-files-using-file-provider-extensions). The issue is that when using the File Provider extension implemented with 'NSFileProviderReplicatedExtension', the content of the share does not display in the iPadOS Files app. The 'NSFileProviderEnumerating.enumerator' function is invoked, but none of the functions of the returned 'NSFileProviderEnumerator' are executed: neither 'currentSyncAnchor', 'enumerateChanges', nor 'enumerateItems'. Instead, the 'NSFileProviderEnumerator' is immediately invalidated. This issue can be reproduced with iPadOS 18.3 and a shared iPad setup. Maybe i missing some additional steps/ settings in my extension to work properly on Shared iPads. Created also a post on the feedbackassistent: FB16587660 (NSFileProviderReplicatedExtension does not work in Shared iPad setup) Steps to reproduce: iPad with a Shared iPad profile Enroll the iPad and log in as a Guest user Turn on developer mode Install the example app from Apple (as mentioned above) Add some test files to the FruitBasket storage Add this FruitBasket domain to the FruitBasket-iOS app You may need to provide "Privacy - Local Network Usage Description" in the Info.plist of the FruitBasket-iOS example app to be able to find local FruitBasket storage. Check in the Files app to see that the FruitBasket share is empty -> The expected behavior is that the FruitBasket share should contain the test files added previously. (This works fine without a shared iPad setup).

iOS 18.3.1 - QLPreviewControllerView closing triggers AX Lookup problem - errorCode:1100 error:Permission denied portName:'com.apple.iphone.axserver' PID:1022
Since iOS 18.3.1, In lower iOS versions it works fine though. QLPreviewController shows a blank white screen instead of showing the document. Additionally, it does not display the 'Done' option at the top-right to close the view. Presenting the QLPreviewController works fine to display the document, but for the second time, it renders the blank white screen as described. While launching QLPreviewControllerView for the first time. I'm receiving the following message in the console and it displays the document. This attempt will not be retried. Closing the QLPreviewController with the help of the 'Done' option from top-right or swipe to close triggers the following message in the console. WeatherKit - hourly temperature details
we’re looking to get some clarification around how the hourly forecasts should be interpreted to ensure we’re using your data in the correct manner. If you could provide the answers to the following questions would be extremely helpful: 1. What do the data points (e.g temperature) in the hourly forecast represent for a future hour? Do they represent the expected average over that future hour or do they represent the forecast for the point in time at the top of the hour? 2. What do those same data points represent in the hourly forecast for an hour which has already begun? e.g. it’s 8:30 and we pull the hourly forecast and the 8:00 hour is still returned. Which of the following would be the correct interpretation for the values returned for the 8:00 hour: The values represent the forecast for the point in time at the top of the 8:00 hour (if this is the case we would expect it to stop updating) The values represent the current forecast i.e. what the weather is right now The values represent the average over the remaining portion of the 8:00 hour The values represent the average over the full 8:00 hour including both the portion which has already elapsed and the portion which is still to come 3. What does the data represent after the hour (i.e. looking at historical hours)? Is it: The last forecast made within the hour? If so, is that point-in-time or average for the hour (as explained above)? The actual weather for that hour (using some non-forecast measure of real weather)? If so, again is that point-in-time at top of hour / point-in-time at end of hour / average over the hour?

App Clip Closes Before SKOverlay Can Show “Open” Button When Live Activity Is Involved
I have an App Clip that uses SKOverlay.AppClipConfiguration to install the full app. Before I added a Live Activity call (Activity.request), the user could see “Install,” then “Open.” Now, once “Get” is tapped, the Clip immediately closes—no “Open” button appears. If I remove the Live Activity code, it works again. I’ve confirmed that parent/child entitlements match, and tested via TestFlight. Is there a known issue or recommended workaround for combining SKOverlay + Live Activities in an App Clip so it doesn’t dismiss prematurely? Any insights are appreciated! Note live activity is for App Clip only.

original_transaction_id associated to web_order_line_item_id of auto-renewable subscription changed
Our app offers auto-renewable subscriptions using StoreKit Original API for In-App Purchase and App Store Server Notifications V1. Starting around 2025-03-15, we found some cases where original_transaction_id which was associated to web_order_line_item_id of already purchased subscription had changed in the receipt information of verifyReceipt response or App Store Server Notifications V1. The detailed steps are: Around February 2025, re-purchase from the app the same subscription product which was canceled and expired some time ago, using StoreKit Original API for In-App Purchase Receive the following 2 notifications from App Store Server Notifications V1 almost at the same time INITIAL_BUY DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS In both notifications, latest_receipt_info contains the receipt for the re-purchased subscription period with new original_transaction_id and web_order_line_item_id pending_renewal_info contains both new original_transaction_id and original one which was generated at first purchase, and original one has "is_in_billing_retry_period": "1" Starting around 2025-03-15, the following happens When we receive another "DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS" notification from App Store Server Notifications V1, original_transaction_id which is associated to web_order_line_item_id of the re-purchased subscription period has changed back to the original one (the one which was generated at first purchase) in latest_receipt_info. When we call verifyReceipt with the receipt obtained from appStoreReceiptURL, the response does not seem to contain new original_transaction_id which was generated at re-purchase We have some questions regarding this original_transaction_id behavior. When a user re-purchase the same subscription product which was canceled and expired some time ago, it seems that new original_transaction_id is generated. Is this an expected behavior? If yes, it seems that, at some point, original_transaction_id which is associated to web_order_line_item_id of the re-purchased subscription changed back to the original original_transaction_id which had been generated at first purchase. Is this an expected behavior? What triggers the original_transaction_id change to the original one? Is it related to some user actions or subscription status change?

UNNotificationRequest set timestamp to a relative time
The system calendar when showing a calendar event shows a relative timestamp on the notification versus all other apps which have a timestamp of when the notification was sent. Is there a way to set the timestamp to be relative? I am currently working on a calendar app and we should be able to use the same system that apple uses for its own calendar. Post about this on stack overflow from someone else a few years ago

External Link Account Modal language
Hi All, We are developing our app with an approved External Link Account Entitlement. During the development process (such as installing from Xcode or creating an Ad-hoc build and installing it on a phone), the open() function of the External Link Account API displays the modal our native language. The app only localized to that language. However, after uploading the app with the same configuration to TestFlight, the modal somehow appears in English instead. What could be causing this issue with the External Link Account modal? How can the open() function display the modal in another language when installed from Xcode or an Ad-hoc release build, but in English when installed from TestFlight? How can we show only our native lanugage version only to our Users? Thank you in advance

Displaying an email in mail preview pane by message ID
Hi, I want to open an email message with AppleScript. Everything is working correctly, but in the Mail app, instead of focusing on targetMessage, it highlights the email after the target message. When I use: tell targetMessage to open the correct email opens in new window but the wrong email is highlighted in the Mail app list. tell application "Mail" activate set targetAccount to missing value repeat with anAccount in every account if name of anAccount is "AccountName" then set targetAccount to anAccount exit repeat end if end repeat if targetAccount is not missing value then set targetBox to missing value repeat with aBox in mailboxes of targetAccount if name of aBox is "MailboxName" then set targetBox to aBox exit repeat end if end repeat if targetBox is not missing value then set targetMessage to missing value set oneWeekAgo to (current date) - (7 * days) set filteredMessages to (every message of targetBox whose date received ≥ oneWeekAgo) repeat with aMessage in filteredMessages try if message id of aMessage is "MessageID" then set targetMessage to aMessage exit repeat end if end try end repeat if targetMessage is not missing value then if (count of message viewers) > 0 then set mailViewer to message viewer 1 else set mailViewer to make new message viewer end if tell mailViewer set selected mailboxes to {targetBox} delay 0.2 set selected messages to {targetMessage} end tell return "Found" else return "Message Not found" end if else return "Folder Not found" end if else return "Account Not found" end if end tell Why is this behavior happening?

iOS in-app purchasing in Unity app
Hi everyone, I am working on a Unity iOS app. I am adding in-app purchasing in my app. I have added Unity IAP to the Unity project, as well as the code for initialising and purchasing a subscription with the product ID. I have also added my certificates and provisioning profile in Xcode with in-app purchasing capabilities. Also, I have set up an App Store Connect page with a non-renewing subscription with a unique product ID and all required information. The subscription status is ready to submit. I have added a sandbox tester account in it. In unity editor, it is working fine with fake purchase receipt. While testing in an iOS device, apple ID is logged out. But there is an error occurs everytime : IAP not initialized. Also I have uploaded a newer version of app on app store connect, it is in waiting for review status. Is there any step or something I am missing that it is not working in iOS device? Please help

How to properly share code between launch in background and launch in foreground?
I've been reading this question: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/701945 and watching the videos on background tasks But can't arrive to a concrete solution. Q1: Are there any tips (or sample app) on how to handle a launch in background in a streamlined way? How to have a shared code that is ran for both 'launch in background' & 'launch in foreground'? Specifically the case I'm talking about is: You set up some observance of some OS callback at a Foo screen of your app. Example app should request and then send push-to-start live activity tokens to server. Or setup location tracking. App is then suspended and then later terminated but is eligible for relaunch App is then launched in background because it has requested a push-to-start live activity token or an update for location tracking. User DOES NOT go back to screen Foo. So at this point app is no longer tracking / listening to updates for token update or location changes. How should I architecture my code for this? I'm trying to see if there's a an approach where I can avoid having multiple places in code where I do the same thing. Currently what I'm doing is as such: Q2: Is it then correct to say that anytime you've launched your app, whether it's in foreground or background then you must immediately match 'all observations done by the previous app launch'? Like store items in UserDefaults and upon launch retrieve them and do: handleGeneralAppLaunchFlow() // ALSO if defaults.contains("didLastLaunchSetupLiveActivtiyTokenObservance") { for await ptsToken in Activity<EmojiRangers> .pushToStartTokenUpdates { ... } } if defaults.contains("didLastLaunchSetupLocationTracking") { locationManager = CLLocationManager() locationManager?.delegate = itsDelegate locationManager?.allowsBackgroundLocationUpdates = true locationManager?.showsBackgroundLocationIndicator = true locationManager?.startUpdatingLocation() } // Other checks for prior observance setup Q3: Actually I think even if app is launched in foreground then because you may not end up at screen Foo again, then you must setup things regardless of app state and just based on prior observations set. Right? Q4: And then later if the user ever made it again to screen Foo, then we just skip the re-do of the observance, or maybe to just keep things simple, we'd just redo without over-engineering things? I tried to mark my questions with Q1- Q4.

Crash: Fatal Exception: NSInvalidArgumentException -[NWConcrete_nw_protocol_options copyWithZone:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance
Hi there, can some one help how to debug this crashes? where I can start to find root causes of this crashes. Technical Inquiry about CoreBluetooth Scanning
Issue: We noticed inconsistent BLE device discovery times (ranging from 0.5s to 1.5s) despite the peripheral advertising at 2Hz (500ms interval). Questions: Does iOS regulate the BLE scan interval or duty cycle internally? If yes, what factors affect this behavior (e.g., foreground/background state, connected devices)? Are there recommended practices to reduce discovery latency for peripherals with fixed advertising intervals? Is there a way to configure scan parameters (e.g., scan window/interval) programmatically, similar to Android's BluetoothLeScanner? Test Context: Device: iPhone 13 mini (iOS 17.6.1) Code: CBCentralManager.scanForPeripherals(withServices: nil, options: [CBCentralManagerScanOptionAllowDuplicatesKey: true])

Multible saved accounts and SwiftData
For a CRM application, I want users to be able to switch between accounts and have their saved contacts stored locally. Whenever a user logs in, the app should fetch data from their specific database location. What’s the best practice to achieve this? Should I create a separate database for each user? Should I store all the data in one database and filter it by user? Or is there a better approach I should consider?
