Is Picture in Picture supported for WebRTC / WebView video on iOS (outside app)?
Hello, I am implementing video calling on iOS and need to support Picture in Picture (PiP) behavior similar to FaceTime or WhatsApp. What works Audio continues correctly in background CallKit UI works as expected Video works correctly while the app is in the foreground What I’m trying to achieve When the user presses the Home button or switches apps, I want to show a system Picture in Picture window (floating video outside the app). Current setup Video is rendered via WebRTC The video is displayed inside a WKWebView (HTML / JavaScript) PiP works only while the app is foregrounded When the app backgrounds, the video disappears (only audio remains) Questions Does iOS support system Picture in Picture for: WebRTC video WKWebView / HTML video 2 Is AVPictureInPictureController limited only to: AVPlayerLayer AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer 3 If PiP requires native rendering: Is it mandatory to render WebRTC frames natively using AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer? Is PiP explicitly unsupported for WebView / HTML video? 📌 Clarification Apps like FaceTime and WhatsApp are able to show PiP outside the app. I want to understand whether this behavior is achievable only with native video pipelines, or if WebView-based video is fundamentally restricted by iOS. Any official clarification or documentation reference would be appreciated. Thank you.

Description: In our app, we have login page which displayed in WKWebView. In that page, there is an Remember my Device cookie option which user can select, so next time it OTP page will not be displayed. Problem Statement: Recently we found that some issue happened with this cookie. Especially, when users upgraded their OS versions to 18.6 or 26.1 or 26.2. Need to understand, any changes related to Cookie part in latest OS Versions?

Cookie Missing After App Upgrade During OAuth Consent Flow on iOS (Safari ITP?)
Scenario Overview: In our app, we open an in-app browser to complete a third-party consent flow. The sequence is: App → Website A (set cookie and redirect) → Google → Website A (check cookie) → App After upgrading the app, the first consent attempt fails because the cookie cannot be written, causing the check cookie step to fail. However, if we use the native Safari browser, this issue does not occur. Observed Behavior: Scenario Result Upgrade app → Consent ❌ Fail Upgrade app → Consent fail → Consent again immediately ✅ Pass Upgrade app → Consent fail → Upgrade again after 1–2h → Consent ✅ Pass Upgrade app → Consent fail → Upgrade again after 1d → Consent ❌ Fail Install a new app → Consent ✅ Pass Upgrade app → Consent, cancel flow → Consent again ✅ Pass Install new app → Wait for upgrade → Upgrade app → Consent ✅ Pass Install new app → Wait 1–2h → Upgrade app → Consent ✅ Pass Investigation: From Safari documentation, this seems related to Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP), which restricts cross-site cookie behavior during first-party interactions. However, I haven’t found a clear mitigation strategy yet. Question: Has anyone encountered similar issues with Safari ITP after app upgrades? Are there recommended approaches to ensure cookies persist across this redirect flow?

WebKit https post return html use javascript send WebSocket Request
In my application, I use HTML pages to display the interface. Since it’s a cross-platform app, the pages and interactions work properly on other platforms. However, in WebKit, because HTTPS protocol is used, JS requests from the page cannot use the ws protocol but must use the wss protocol under HTTPS. Is there any way to allow a webpage under HTTPS to use ws requests normally? Google Chrome can do this.

Videos keep refetched with loop
Hello there, For a video like this <video src="blob:safari-web-extension://***" autoplay="" loop="" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; object-fit: cover; z-index: -1;"></video>, no matter if its local or remote, blob or mp4 files, is constantly being reloaded (refetched? revalidated?) if the loop tag is added. I can confirm there is actual constant traffic from the server based on my server logs. I am running iOS/macOS 26.

File Download Support in SwiftUI Native WebView (iOS 26+)
I am using the native SwiftUI WebView and WebPage APIs (iOS 26+) and would like to implement file download functionality using the native SwiftUI WebView. However, I have not been able to find any APIs equivalent to WKDownload. In WKWebView, the WKDownload API can be used to handle downloads. I am looking for a similar API or recommended approach in the native SwiftUI WebView that would allow downloading files. If anyone has guidance or suggestions on how to implement this, I would appreciate your help.

First installation of the extension - sending messages to the background script from the event handler in the content script does not work
After the first installation (out of AppStore) of the extension in the browser, the content script is correctly inserted into the page (twice for some reason) and a message is sent from the root of the content script to the background script, which responds correctly. However, if an event handler is registered within the content script, within which the message is also sent to the background script, it will never reach the background script. window.addEventListener("message", function (event) { // We only accept messages from ourselves if (event.source !== window) { return; } if (event.data.source && event.data.source === appIdentification) { browser.runtime.sendMessage(event.data); } }, false); It does not matter with what delay the event handler is called (i.e. the background script is not asleep). If I refresh the page or close and reopen the browser and reload the page, everything works correctly and the message sent from the event handler is already delivered to the background script. The event handler is used so that the extension code is uniform for all browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Opera, Firefox), i.e. it is not intended to use externally_connectable for sending messages from the webpage directly to the background script, which Safari should support. The expected behavior is that the extension will work even after the first installation, as is the case with other browsers. Procedure: Enter the test website: https://www.mssf.cz/testapp/check_client.aspx Do the initial installation of the extension (could be downloaded from here: https://1drv.ms/f/c/76f4c93826df41a0/Ej5MQX9ctyhHv_P9_t_6uAwB05ET-nzXuMhPeu56nOgkWg?e=cudqRJ) Set a breakpoint in the event handler for "message" within the content script, open the background script and set a breakpoint in the event handler for onMessage Click on the "Validate certificate" button on the page loaded in point 1 Step through the content script to the point where the message is sent to the background script, the breakpoint within the background script is never hit, which is an error, the message should come to the background script

Issue sending web push notification to iOS
Hello all, I'm building a web application in ASP.NET MVC (.NET Framework 4.7.2), from this web app I need to send push notifications to users. For the ones who are logged in with windows/android, everything works as expected, but I can't manage to get it work on the apple side. If I use the same methods to subscribe to push notifications, it shows me the popup that asks the user to enable push notifications, and then I get an endpoint like this: https://web.push.apple.com/QKC1Muic0H7... It doesn't work using this (taking the part after https://web.push.apple.com/), I keep getting "Bad device token" (trying to send the notification via APNS). Then I found out that there is another method to register the device from the frontend, and this one should give me the real device token: window.safari.pushNotification.requestPermission But this one doesn't show me the popup, it gives me "denied" without a reason. I'm trying to a test application which is here https://pwa.vctplanner.it, the web push id is web.it.vctplanner, I created a push package downloadable from POST https://pwa.vctplanner.it/api/v2/PushPackages/web.it.vctplanner, and the code from the frontend is this: function registerSafariPush() { // Controlla se Safari Push Notifications è disponibile if (!('safari' in window) || !('pushNotification' in window.safari)) { console.log("Safari Push Notifications non supportate su questo browser."); return; } // Il tuo Website Push ID registrato su Apple Developer var websitePushId = "web.it.vctplanner"; // Controlla lo stato della permission var permissionData = window.safari.pushNotification.permission(websitePushId); switch (permissionData.permission) { case 'default': // L'utente non ha ancora deciso window.safari.pushNotification.requestPermission( 'https://pwa.vctplanner.it', // URL del server che serve il Push Package websitePushId, {}, // dati opzionali da inviare al server function (permission) { if (permission.permission === 'granted') { console.log("Notifiche push abilitate!"); sendSubscriptionToServer({ endpoint: permission.deviceToken }); } else { console.log("Notifiche push non abilitate dall'utente."); } } ); break; case 'denied': // L'utente ha negato console.log("Notifiche push negate."); break; case 'granted': // L'utente ha già autorizzato console.log("Notifiche push già autorizzate."); sendSubscriptionToServer({ endpoint: permissionData.deviceToken }); break; } } Any suggestions of what I'm missing? Is there a complete guide to how generate the push package? Thank you

Apple Pay button not showing up in apple pay demo site.
MacOS: 12 ( Monterrey ) Safari: 17.6 Demo Site: https://applepaydemo.apple.com/ At the bottom where the Apple Pay button should appear, I see a warning something like "This browser doesn't support Apple Pay, please use safari" along with a link to requirements for apple pay. All the requirements are fulfilled, OS and Safari's version are above the minimum required. Link was opened in Safari. And the other thing is if I open the same site in Chrome, I can see the apple pay button and when I click on it a QR appears which is the expected behaviour. How to resolve this?

ssl error iPadOS 18.4 for self-signed certificate
Our app is an enterprise app via MDM. We are experiencing an issue in iPadOS 18.4 when loading an internal HTTPS server via WKWebView in a hybrid iOS app. Our server uses a self-signed certificate but lacks the digitalSignature usage in its Key Usage extension. (Currently we have no chance to change the server's certificate) We override webView:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:completionHandler: to trust the certificate: completionHandler(NSURLSessionAuthChallengeUseCredential, credential); This "completionHandler" works in previous 18.3.2 , but not work in 18.4. May I know is there any changes in 18.4 for the https certification? Why this delegate not work? What we can do to ignore this ssl error and get connection? Thanks in advance, look forward for your reply.

"tel:02-xxxx-xxxx" alert
window.location.href = "tel:02-xxxx-xxxx" Can the development team modify the screen text? Or can the country code be erased? What are the reasons for continuing to be "on the phone" if the country code is automatically attached to the phone like this?

iOS 18 upgrade: website map point text now missing after
My website ccflood.us is a simple map that uses a CSV file for the data that is displayed on the map. It uses the ESRI JS API. Recently the points on the map began missing the text in the boxes only on Apple devices that have been upgraded to iOS 18. Has anyone also had this happen to their site? If you have upgraded to iOS 18, try this site on your iPhone then look at it on an Android phone or your desktop browser. You should seet the values in the boxes and a "+" at points that have no value. If you've had this happen with your site or have heard of a fix, please reply to this post.
