Problems visualizing UIApplicationShortcutIcon with shortcuts
Hi Everybody, I am actually developing dynamic shortcuts for my app. I have a problem with the class UIApplicationShortcutIcon. When I pass a personalized icon in the parameter icon as a UIApplicationShortcutIcon(templateImageName: "nameOfTheAsset" I always visualize a black dot instead of my Icon. The icon is imported as .SVG file and rendered as a template. Sincerely I do not know what to do to solve this problem since the documentation is little. Hoping somebody can give some tips to solve the problem

SwiftUI List DisclosureGroup Rendering Issues on macOS 13 & 14
Issue Description Whenever the first item in the List is a DisclosureGroup, all subsequent disclosure groups work fine. However, if the first item is not a disclosure group, the disclosure groups in subsequent items do not render correctly. This issue does not occur in macOS 15, where everything works as expected. Has anyone else encountered this behavior, or does anyone have a workaround for macOS 13 & 14? I’m not using OutlineGroup because I need to bind to an isExpanded property for each row in the list. Reproduction Steps I’ve created a small test project to illustrate the issue: Press “Insert item at top” to add a non-disclosure item at the start of the list. Then, press “Append item with sub-item” to add a disclosure group further down. The disclosure group does not display correctly. The label of the disclosure group renders fine, but the content of the disclosure group does not display at all. Press "Insert item at top with sub-item" and the list displays as expected. Extra Trailing Closure for List {}
I am a little lost. Why is Xcode complaining of this. Everything looks right here. I even removed my code and copy-pasted Apple's sample from here - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swiftui/list Clean built and still get this. Not using List removes the error.

Release Build Configuration as Release Fails Preview
I have a simple SwiftUI project with two basic build configurations (Debug, Release) as shown below. I now choose Build > Scheme > Edit Scheme under Product and select Release as the current build configuration as shown below. And the Preview canvas exhibit errors. If I click on the Diagnostics button, it says under PREVIEW UPDATE ERROR OptimizationLevelError: not building -Onone ”BuildSchemeCrazyDaughter.app” needs -Onone Swift optimization level to use previews (current setting is -O) What does that mean and why don't I get the preview for the Release build configuration? Thanks.

NSTableView.clickedRow sometimes is greater than number of rows
Xcode has been downloading many similar crash reports for my app for some time now, related to an index out of range runtime exception when accessing a Swift array. The crashes always happen in methods triggered by user input or during menu item validation when I try to access the data source array by using the following code to determine the indexes of the relevant table rows: let indexes = clickedRow == -1 || selectedRowIndexes.contains(clickedRow) ? selectedRowIndexes : IndexSet(integer: clickedRow) I was never able to reproduce the crash until today. When the app crashed in the Xcode debugger, I examined the variables clickedRow and selectedRowIndexes.first, which were 1 and 0 respectively. What's interesting: the table view only contained one row, so clickedRow was effectively invalid. I tried to reproduce the issue several times afterwards, but it never happened again. What could cause this issue? What are the circumstances where it is invalid? Do I always have to explicitly check if clickedRow is within the data source range?

Avoiding logoff when installing new/modified InputMethodKit input source
It appears that on all recent versions of macOS when adding a new InputSource in /Library/Input Methods (or modifying an existing one there) the user needs to logoff and log back in in order for Keyboard/Input Sources in System Settings and Input Menu in menu bar to pick up the changes. Is there a way to avoid this? That is, some notification to send or API to call to tell both of these "hey, things might have changed on disk, please re-read the info, and update the UI". 🙂

Scrolling up in List after having quickly scrolled down becomes jumpy
There seems to be a bug; when scrolling very quickly down a List, and then scrolling up at normal speed, scrolling becomes very janky and jumpy, often skipping one or two rows. This only happens on macOS. I'm kind of surprised I've seen no one else mention this bug, as I can recreate it in a very simple Xcode Project. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a workaround? VisionOS custom hover effect and click sound
I have created a custom hover effect per this WWDC video and many other examples on the Net: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2024/10152/ I can get the button to expand when looked at within a VisionOS device and it will invoke a tap event when tapped but there is no click sound like a normal SwiftUI button does in VisionOS! I can't for the life of me figure out why. Any help would be appreciated!

SwiftUI Button fade animation happens with a delay when in ScrollView
When we place a Button inside a ScrollView , the fade animation of the button is delayed, so most users won't see it I think. You can see this in the trivial example struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { ScrollView { Button { // empty } label: { Text("Fade animation test") } } } } Is there any way to opt out of this behavior? In UIKit, this was also the default behavior, but you could always change it by overriding touchesShouldCancel method. I think I can probably do that by rewriting an animation completely with some custom ButtonStyle or by rewriting a Button component completely, but it doesn't seem like a good solution to me, as I want the native look and feel (in case of button animation it is pretty easy to mimic though). And also for some components, like lists, Apple has already implemented the correct behavior by themselves somehow.

UIContextMenuInteraction not working if view is originally offscreen
I’m having a weird UIKit problem. I have a bunch of views in a UIScrollView and I add a UIContextMenuInteraction to all of them when the view is first loaded. Because they're in a scroll view, only some of the views are initially visible. The interaction works great for any of the views that are initially on-screen, but if I scroll to reveal new subviews, the context menu interaction has no effect for those. I used Xcode's View Debugger to confirm that my interaction is still saved in the view's interactions property, even for views that were initially off-screen and were then scrolled in. What could be happening here?

Issue with Parent selecting child's apps using Family Controls API
I'm trying to accomplish the features in this video where the child device requests permission from parent to control scren time. Then the parent can choose apps on the childs phone from their phone. Everything on the childs device is working exactly like in the video. However, on the parents phone, when the FamilyActivityPicker appears, it's only the apps on the parents phone and when an app is selected, nothing changes in the FamilyActivitySelection. I found this forum post describe the same issue I am having. I have a physical device logged in the child and a simulator running as the parent. Why can't I see the child's apps on the parents phone? Is it cause I'm running one of them on a simulator?

NSTextView and TextField becomes non clickable after a alert/menu is shown
I have a NSViewController as the root view and have a switui view embedded in it via NSHostingView. override func loadView() { self.view = NSHostingView(rootView: SwiftUiView()) } } In the SwiftUiView, I have a TextField and an NSTextView embedded using NSViewRepresentable, along with a few buttons. There is also a menu: Menu { ForEach(menuItems), id: \.self) { item in Button { buttonClicked() } label: { Text(item) } } } label: { Image("DropDown") .contentShape(Rectangle()) .frame(maxWidth: .infinity) .frame(maxHeight: .infinity) } The NSTextView and TextField work fine, and I can type in them until I click on the menu or show an alert. After that, I can no longer place my cursor in the text fields. I am able to select the text but not type in it. When I click on the NSTextView or TextField, nothing happens. At first, I thought it was just a cursor visibility issue and tried typing, but I received an alert sound. I've been trying to fix this for a couple of days and haven't found any related posts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reading large documents
Can the SwiftUI document architecture Take a file as read-only; never to be written out Take files too large for memory (multi-MB, or even GB) I wouldn't want the system to read a gigabyte size file into memory by default. If the system can use a memory-mapped Data as the representation, that'll be something I can make do. It would be even better if I could tell the system that I'll handle all the reading, all I need from it is a reference to the file's location on disk.

iOS 18.4 App updates crashes the widget and the only solution is to restart the device or change the device language
App update in which there were no changes regarding the widget. Just after it updated, the widget turns black in some cases. It also appears black in the widget gallery. UIScrollView in UIViewControllerRepresentable - UI freezes when content touches bottom SafeArea
The SwiftUI ScrollView lacks some features I need and so I created a custom MyScrollView based on UIScrollView wrapped within a UIViewControllerRepresentable. While this works fine in general I know came across a very strange problem: When MyScrollView is used in a sheet and its content touches bottom SafeArea, the UI freezes as soon as the should be displayed. The code below shows the problem as well in preview as on the simulator and on devices. Please note that the code is tuned do the display size of an iPhone 16 Pro. When running on different devices one might need to adjust height of the Color.yellow. In the demo code the UI freezes if the Color.yellow has a height between 738 to 771 pixels. Every other height is fine. Is there something wrong with my implementation of MyScrollView? When using ScrollView instead, everything works fine.
