Hi,
I have a project that is based on a GPL library. The GPL library has some issue since early 2024 that requires it to be run on XCode 15.2. Any XCode above 15.2 will only give you "Invalid MinimumOSVersion." and "Missing Info.plist value." errors. So I installed 15.2 again. But now I have another problem because it can only run on Ventura. How do I run XCode 15.2 on my Sequoia MacOS? I hate to reinstall the OS all again.
Thank you.

I have been using Xcode 16.2 for a long time. I downloaded it from the developer site. I recently downloaded Xcode 16.3. I was offline on an airplane and I got an error authenticating my account. Since then, I have not been able to sign my apps. I was able to create a new app that worked but in my effort to resolve the problem, I deleted my account and now I cannot add it back. I was getting a "bad URL" error. Now I'm getting "Could not connect to the server." I sent an email to Apple Dev Support and they told me to download Xcode from the App Store. I did that and it gave me the same error. Is anyone else having this problem? If Apple Dev Support cannot resolve it, I don't know how I am going to.

Hi everyone,
I’m facing a major roadblock with my family location tracking app, and I need some advice or guidance from the community.
Background
Back in 2021, I implemented NSE filtering entitlement to send location-based notifications and retrieve the device's location in return (as suggested by Apple’s technical code support). Over time, I built my app around this entitlement, adding many features that depend on it.
When Location Push Service Extension was introduced for iOS 15+, I adapted accordingly:
NSE filtering was used for devices below iOS 15
Location Push Service Extension was used for iOS 15+
NSE filtering also played a crucial role in:
✅ Accepting/rejecting location-based notifications
✅ Checking device settings & location permissions (since location push won’t work without proper permissions)
The Issue
In November 2024, I created a new developer account to change my business entity. Since then, I’ve been requesting the NSE entitlement repeatedly for four months, but Apple keeps rejecting it. Meanwhile, they approved the Location Push Entitlement, but without NSE filtering, I’m forced to rewrite a huge part of my app’s core functionality.
I’ve sent multiple emails explaining my use case, but I keep getting rejected without any clear explanation or workaround.
My Ask
Has anyone faced a similar issue with NSE entitlement?
Are there any alternative approaches to achieve the same functionality?
Any advice on how to escalate this to Apple or get proper feedback on why it's being rejected?
I’ve invested years into this app, and a forced rewrite would take months. Any help, insights, or contacts who could assist would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi,
This maybe somewhat confusing, but please bear with me.
I currently have an app in the App Store that supports iOS and tvOS. But the tvOS version was a separate app during the development process. I'd like to combine the iOS and tvOS app into one project so its easier to handle and keep track of internally.
Can I upload the new Apple TV version to the same place where the current one is, or would I have to delete the current Apple TV version before uploading the newly combined version?
I hope I made that clear enough :-)
Thank you,
Dan Uff
I want to release a Framework F, containing several other frameworks (such as Realm, Appetitive, Cocoalumberjack, PhoneNumberKit) for use by app A.
According to this article: https://medium.com/@bittudavis/how-to-create-an-umbrella-framework-in-swift-ca964d0a2345
They write, without referencing a source: "Although Apple discourage creating umbrella framework".
Is that true, do Apple discourage umbrella frameworks, if so why and is it a very strong discourage or a mild one?
If not discouraged, then how can this be achieved with Xcode 16?
I've been attempting to follow a few tutorial to achieve this, such as https://medium.com/john-lewis-software-engineering/adding-a-third-party-framework-inside-a-first-party-framework-in-xcode-3ba58cfd08da
however so far without any success. This last article mentions the Link Binary With Libraries section, which doesn't exist in Xcode 16.
There's the Frameworks, Libraries, and Embedded Content section where I have been attempting to add the frameworks into my Framework F (choosing Embed without Signing).
I'm able to successfully build Framework F, but when app A attempts to use it (adding F to the Frameworks, Libraries, and Embedded Content section with option embed and sign, or embed and don't sign, makes no difference) then I get run time errors about the umbrellaed frameworks not being able to be found.
I used fastlane to package and upload the test package to TestFlight. However, the account in Xcode is often logged out automatically without any prompts.
In Xcode, I logged in with the developer account to automatically manage certificates, provisioning profiles, signatures, etc.
For the fastlane upload, I used a Application-specific passwords.
Does anyone know what could be the reason? I'm almost driven crazy.

I am trying to generate a QR code inside the ActivityReportExtention which encoded the FamilyActivitySelection information. The code is roughly:
Question
Can I create Image inside the ActivityReportExtension? I cannot even render a simple image (not QR code) inside the extension.
How can I debug inside the extension? Logs of the extension are not shown in the console.
Code
A function to generate QR Code
import CoreImage
import UIKit
func generateQRCode(from string: String) -> UIImage? {
let data = string.data(using: .ascii)
guard let filter = CIFilter(name: "CIQRCodeGenerator") else { return nil }
filter.setValue(data, forKey: "inputMessage")
filter.setValue("Q", forKey: "inputCorrectionLevel") // Q for medium quality
guard let outputImage = filter.outputImage else { return nil }
// Scale the QR code image so it looks clear on screen
let transform = CGAffineTransform(scaleX: 10, y: 10)
let scaledImage = outputImage.transformed(by: transform)
// Create a CIContext and generate a CGImage from the CIImage
let context = CIContext()
if let cgImage = context.createCGImage(scaledImage, from: scaledImage.extent) {
return UIImage(cgImage: cgImage)
} else {
return nil
}
}
Inside ActivityReportExtension sandbox:
struct LineChartView: View {
var body: some View {
VStack {
if let qrImage = generateQRCode2(from: "this is a test") {
Image(uiImage: qrImage)
.resizable()
.scaledToFit()
.frame(width: 200, height: 200)
} else {
Text("QR Code generation failed")
}
}
}
}
I have an iOS app, and I am trying to add a companion WatchOS app. My iOS app depends on 2 libraries:
GoogleMobileAds
FirebaseAnalyticsWithoutAdIdSupport
When I add a new target for WatchOS, the preview build starts to fail. I am not adding any libraries to WatchOS. The Google Ads and Firebase Analytics libs are only under the iOS target.
I am unable to run the preview, I get an error when trying to build the watch scheme. The preview does not work. The build just crashes. I've included the error log below.
But, here are the steps I've tried so far:
Delete folders inside Derived Data
Run a clean build (Cmd + Option + Shift + K)
Delete scheme and create a new one
Reset Package Cache
Restart Xcode
Restart Macbook
But, it just does not work. I do not understand why the watchOS target is erroring for "GoogleUserMessagingPlatform" and "GoogleMobileAdsTarget" when those packages are not linked/used for the watchOS.

I want to statically link xcframework as binaryTarget in Swift Package, but it is copied into the product as dynamic when the Xcode build. How to use xcframework in SwiftPackage and statically link it into iOS product?

We are trying to create a screentime app using the Family Controls as well as Device activity frameworks. The build succeeds but while pushing to an iphone we are getting an info.plist file for deviceactivity.framework could not be found error. For reference when using the Screentime API a physical device must be used not a simulator. When we remove the device activity framework this error also occurs for the family controls framework. We have added the Family Controls(development) Capability and applied for the distribution capability. We have redownloaded xcode multiple times on the main device, deleted derived data, and redownloaded all of the iphone SDKs and the issue still persists.
In Xcode, when you type a word like "don't", a second apostrophe is automatically inserted after the word and you have to manually delete it.
Repro steps:
Create a new empty Markdown file or XML file.
Open the file in Xcode.
Type the word “don’t”.
Expected behavior: The word “don’t” appears.
Observed behavior: The word “don’t” appears, followed by an extra single quote.

Hi - I've added in-app purchases (Quarterly and Yearly
) to my app and submitted it for TestFlight. The app is available, but in my Developer account, the in-app purchases section still shows the products as 'Waiting for Review.'
When I test the app for in-app purchase, the dialog does not appear. Is this issue of "Approval" of the in-app purchase product?
If YES, how can I get approval for these in-app purchase products?
FYI: I have attached a screenshot of the in-app purchase products.
Please suggest
Thanks,
Sushil
When renaming A.value, it also causes the value inside the conditional compilation in checkRename to be renamed.
How to resolve or avoid this situation?
class A {
let value = "1"
}
class B {
var value = 0
}
func checkRename() {
var b = B()
#if os(iOS)
b.value = 456
#elseif os(macOS)
b.value = 789
#endif
}

Hi all,
I’m running into a persistent linker error when building my Unity 6 project (IL2CPP, iOS target) that calls a Swift method via an Objective-C++ wrapper. Despite following all known steps, I keep getting:
Undefined symbols for architecture arm64:
"_placeGeoAnchor", referenced from:
_GeoAnchorTrigger_placeGeoAnchor in libGameAssembly.a
...
ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture arm64
I’m trying to place a persistent AR anchor at real-world GPS coordinates (so that the same asset can appear at the same location for a returning user). Since I’m targeting iOS, I can’t use Google’s geospatial anchors (but I sooo wish I could--please apple I beg of you stop being so selfish lol).
I've already done these things:
Swift file is added to Unity-iPhone target.
.mm and .h files are in Unity-iPhone target under Compile Sources.
Bridging header is set to Unity-iPhone-Bridging-Header.h.
Generated header name is correct (GeoTest-Swift.h).
Build Active Architecture Only set to No.
Function has attribute((visibility("default"))).
Unity project uses IL2CPP scripting backend.
Yet I'm still getting the same linker error — it appears Unity (via IL2CPP) references the function, but Xcode doesn't link it.
It’s something small that’s being missed with how IL2CPP links native symbols? Or maybe I need to explicitly include something in Link Binary With Libraries? I’ve verified symbol visibility and targets repeatedly.
I’ve built AR features in Unity before (for Quest), but this is my first time trying to bridge C# → Objective-C++ → Swift in this way for a geolocation-based AR anchor for an iphone.
I'm going crazy, I’ve been stuck on this for 12+ hours now, so any insight or nudge would be deeply appreciated.
SPECS:

Within Xcode's settings location section is a drop down menu to switch between setting the derived data location to be default, relative or custom.
However its a global setting.
I work on more than one project simultaneously, and for one of them I want the location set to relative, but default for all the others.
Is there any way of achieving that?
I'm experiencing an issue with a custom font not loading properly in Xcode 16.3. The font files are included in the bundle, listed in Info.plist, and verified for correct names using UIFont.familyNames, but they still don't appear at runtime. Has anyone else run into this with Xcode 16.3? Could this be related to recent changes in asset packaging or font catalogs?
