.focusEffectDisabled(true) not working
Hi everyone, I'm working on a tvOS app using SwiftUI, and I want to disable the focus effect (the default focus glow/bounce) on a specific Button. According to the documentation: /// - Parameter disabled: A Boolean value that determines whether this view /// can display focus effects. /// - Returns: A view that controls whether focus effects can be displayed /// in this view. I used .focusEffectDisabled(true) on the Button, expecting the focus style to be completely disabled for that view. However, this doesn’t seem to have any effect in my tvOS 17+ app – the button still shows the default focus visual effect when focused. Here’s a simplified example: Button("Click Me") { // action } .focusEffectDisabled(true) This still shows the bounce/glow focus effect. Am I missing something, or is this a bug? Has anyone managed to fully disable the focus effect for a view (especially Button) in tvOS using SwiftUI? Any workarounds or additional modifiers I should apply? Thanks in advance!

iOS document based app problem running on Mac (Designed for iPad)
Please can somebody help me? I have a document-based iOS in the App Store (iNetWorth). I was able to run it on my M1 Mac Mini as a Mac (Designed for iPad) app without any issues until macOS 15. So, I created a simple test app based on a TabView to try and find out why I cannot get iNetWorth to run successfully on my Mac. The issue is that when TabViewApp.swift file looks like this: import SwiftUI @main struct TabViewApp: App { var body: some Scene { /*WindowGroup { ContentView() }*/ DocumentGroup(newDocument: TextFile()) { file in ContentView(document: file.$document) } } } TabView fails to load the ContentView() - in Xcode 16.2 running on macOS 15.3.2. On opening, the TabView app prompts the user to open a new or existing file normally but it then opens a window that is empty, apart from a Documents button and a label displaying the filename with a dropdown menu (Duplicate, Move, Rename..., Export As…). If the @Binding var document: TextFile line is removed from the ContentView() and the TabViewApp.swift file is changed to: import SwiftUI @main struct TabViewApp: App { var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { ContentView() } /*DocumentGroup(newDocument: TextFile()) { file in ContentView(document: file.$document) }*/ } } the TabView app loads and displays the ContentView() correctly. Both versions of TabView, when running in Xcode on My Mac (Designed for iPad), produce these warnings: CLIENT: Failure to determine if this machine is in the process of shutting down, err=1/Operation not permitted LSPrefs: could not find untranslocated node for <FSNode 0x6000013901a0> { isDir = ?, path = '/private/var/folders/3f/8788c4dj50q050_4wg9fssbr0000gp/X/518B55E1-0EC4-5D84-9202-4E44410EB249/d/Wrapper/TabView.app' }, proceeding on the assumption it is not translocated: Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=1 "Operation not permitted" LSPrefs: could not find untranslocated node for <FSNode 0x6000013901a0> { isDir = ?, path = '/private/var/folders/3f/8788c4dj50q050_4wg9fssbr0000gp/X/518B55E1-0EC4-5D84-9202-4E44410EB249/d/Wrapper/TabView.app' }, proceeding on the assumption it is not translocated: Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=1 "Operation not permitted" LSPrefs: could not find untranslocated node for <FSNode 0x6000013901a0> { isDir = ?, path = '/private/var/folders/3f/8788c4dj50q050_4wg9fssbr0000gp/X/518B55E1-0EC4-5D84-9202-4E44410EB249/d/Wrapper/TabView.app' }, proceeding on the assumption it is not translocated: Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=1 "Operation not permitted" LSPrefs: could not find untranslocated node for <FSNode 0x6000013901a0> { isDir = ?, path = '/private/var/folders/3f/8788c4dj50q050_4wg9fssbr0000gp/X/518B55E1-0EC4-5D84-9202-4E44410EB249/d/Wrapper/TabView.app' }, proceeding on the assumption it is not translocated: Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=1 "Operation not permitted” However, the document-based version of TabView also displays these warnings: cannot open file at line 49450 of [1b37c146ee] os_unix.c:49450: (2) open(/private/var/db/DetachedSignatures) - No such file or directory I suspect that the lack of the DetachedSignatures file is the root cause of the ContentView() not being loaded but I cannot find out how to generate a DetachedSignatures file. Adding an empty DetachedSignatures file or directory to /private/var/db/ does not help. Has anyone else experienced this problem (and maybe found a solution)? Should I raise it as a bug via Feedback or am I missing something obvious? Thanks!

Issue with Parent selecting child's apps using Family Controls API
I'm trying to accomplish the features in this video where the child device requests permission from parent to control scren time. Then the parent can choose apps on the childs phone from their phone. Everything on the childs device is working exactly like in the video. However, on the parents phone, when the FamilyActivityPicker appears, it's only the apps on the parents phone and when an app is selected, nothing changes in the FamilyActivitySelection. I found this forum post describe the same issue I am having. I have a physical device logged in the child and a simulator running as the parent. Why can't I see the child's apps on the parents phone? Is it cause I'm running one of them on a simulator?

BUG: screen flicker on quick tap / swipe to go back
I have found a system bug with UINavigationController, UIGestureRecognizerDelegate mainly the swipe back control. I have reproduced this in many apps, while some that use custom swipe back i can not reproduce, however any app using default uikit/swift transitions i can reproduce the flicker/previous screen flashing The Bug: a slight tap or series of quick taps anywhere on the screen (with the slightest (1-2pt -x)confuse the system into thinking its a swipe back gesture, however instead of pushing back to previous screen the UI flickers and flashes the previous screen. for a split second, very easy to reproduce. on screens with lots of options of boxes to tap it happens quite often. I have removed all custom "swipe back from anywhere" logic, all custom gesture logic, and can still reproduce by tapping the edge of the screen with only UINavigationController, UIGestureRecognizerDelegate in my navigation controller. Please let me know the best way to get in contact with someone at apple to either build an extension to prevent this flicker or if a developer has a fix but this is rarely talked about. (velocity limits etc do not work, and just make the gesture feel awful) all the developers i have reached out too have looked into this and have said "its an ios bug, only fix is build a custom swipe back from anywhere, or wait for apple to fix it).... as a small indie app, building my own seems daunting Recap: quick or taps with small x movement flash previous screen instead of pushing back or simply recognizing it as a tap and not flashing previous screen. this happens with no custom code default uikit/swift. Link me your app i can probably reproduce it, I have reproduced it in X(was hard), Retro(easy), and many more. The goal is to have a smooth native swipe/drag back from anywhere gesture while preventing flicking on fast taps or short taps with minor x movement. i have tried everything from setting limits to -x, velocity limits etc. nothing fixes this. happy hacking! PS i hope someone at apple calls me and i can explain this and we can fix it for every app in an update.

Strange behavior when pushing UIViewController
This is a very strange behavior when pushing vc that I have never seen since I started coding. The pushed ViewController is transparent and only navBarTitle is shown. After the push, you can't control anything unless you go back to the home screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Long press currency change button below.(currencyWrapper) Call selectCountry and this bug happens. SourceCode let currencyWrapper = UIView() private func configureCurrencyCard(){ //The strange behavior shows up after long pressing this currencyWrapper.backgroundColor = .white currencyWrapper.addTarget(self, action: #selector(changeCurrency)) currencyWrapper.setWidth(currencyChangeIcon.follow(by: 16, x: true)) currencyWrapper.setCenterX(w1/2) currencyWrapper.setHeight(currencyLabel.follow(by: 12, x: false)) currencyWrapper.roundToCircle(true) view.addSubview(currencyWrapper) } private func selectCountry(country: Country){ let vc = CountryViewController(country: country) vc.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = true navigationController?.pushViewController(vc, animated: true) }

Abnormal UI and Keyboard Behavior in iPhone App Running on iPadOS 18.x Built with Xcode 16
Case-ID: 12591306 Use Xcode 16.x to compile an iPhone demo app and run it on an iPad (iPadOS 18.x) device or simulator. Launch the iPhone app and activate Picture-in-Picture mode. Attempt to input text; the system keyboard does not appear. Compare the output of [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds] before and after enabling Picture-in-Picture mode, notice the values change unexpectedly after enabling PiP. This issue can be consistently reproduced on iPadOS 18.x when running an app built with Xcode 16.0 to Xcode 16.3RC(16E137). Beginning April 24, 2025, apps uploaded to App Store Connect must be built with Xcode 16 or later using an SDK for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, visionOS 2, or watchOS 11.Therefore, I urgently hope to receive a solution provided by Apple.

Save credentials prompt not shown when login and password aren't the last fields in a form
The save credentials prompt is not shown after clicking the submit button in the following setup. The prompt is shown if I move the email field before the login field. Is it really required to have login and password fields at the end of the registration form? Or is there some API that can trigger the prompt? struct FakeRegistrationView: View { @State private var login = "" @State private var password = "" @State private var repeatPassword = "" @State private var email = "" var navigateBack: () -> Void var body: some View { VStack(spacing: 16) { TextField("Login", text: $login) .textFieldStyle(.roundedBorder) .textContentType(.username) .disableAutocorrection(true) .autocapitalization(.none) .frame(maxWidth: 300) SecureField("Password", text: $password) .textFieldStyle(.roundedBorder) .textContentType(.newPassword) .disableAutocorrection(true) .autocapitalization(.none) .frame(maxWidth: 300) SecureField("Repeat password", text: $repeatPassword) .textFieldStyle(.roundedBorder) .textContentType(.newPassword) .disableAutocorrection(true) .autocapitalization(.none) .frame(maxWidth: 300) TextField("Email", text: $email) .textFieldStyle(.roundedBorder) .textContentType(.emailAddress) .disableAutocorrection(true) .autocapitalization(.none) .frame(maxWidth: 300) Button { Task { try? await Task.sleep(for: .seconds(2)) navigateBack() } } label: { Text("Submit") } .buttonStyle(.borderedProminent) } } }

Can @Query and ModelActor co-exist? How?
Context: The SwiftUI @Query macro has an internal modelContext. The ModelActor also has a modelContext, from which the data should be read/written. Issue: When writing to @Model data fetched with @Query macro using a ModelActor, it will crash in the most not-obvious ways. Also, fetching @Model with ModelActor will result in errors in Swift 6 since @Model aren't sendable. Problem to Solve: - How to write a good amount of data to SwiftData/CoreData without blocking the UI thread? Would the recommendation from the Apple team be that a large amount of data should be read/written with ModelActor and a small amount should be done with the @Query's internal modelContext ?

SwiftUI tvOS NavigationTransition and matchedTransitionSource
According to the docs tvOS 18+ supports the new NavigationTransition and the matchedTransitionSource and navigationTransition(.zoom(sourceID: id, in: namespace)) modifiers, however they don't seems to work. Taking the DestinationVideo project example from the latest WWDC the matchedTransitionSourceis marked with #if os(iOS) Is it supported by tvOS or is it for iOS only? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swiftui/view/navigationtransition(_:) https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swiftui/view/matchedtransitionsource(id:in:configuration:)

UINavigationController inside singleton
I have a struct that holds an instance of UINavigationController: struct NavigationController { static let shared = UINavigationController() } I use NavigationController.shared to push and pop ViewControllers around the app, rather than using the ViewController's .navigationController property. The issue I'm having is that when I pop I get new instances of my previous ViewController, this is my hierarchy: (0) UIWindow | ---- (1) NavigationController (is set as the UIWindow.rootViewController) | ---- (2) UITabBarController (is set with NavigationController.shared.setViewControllers) | ---- (3) ViewController (HomeVC) (is the first tab of the UITabController) | ---- (4) ViewController (ScanVC) (is pushed into the stack by NavigationController.shared.pushViewController) ---- (5) ViewController (NotificationsVC) ---- (6) ViewController (SettingsVC) I put a print statement in my HomeVC in the viewDidLoad method My understanding is that the viewDidLoad should only be called once in the lifecycle of a ViewController When I go back to the HomeVC from the ScanVC then the print always gets triggered which means I have a new instance of the HomeVC This is the print statement I created inside the viewDidLoad method: print("\(#function) View Did Load, instance: \(self)") Here's the output from going back and forth from the HomeVC to ScanVC: viewDidLoad() View Did Load, instance: <HomeVC: 0x118db0000> viewDidLoad() View Did Load, instance: <HomeVC: 0x118db3100> viewDidLoad() View Did Load, instance: <HomeVC: 0x118db0700> Any one has any suggestions on how to fix this? Because ideally going back to the HomeVC should not instantiate a new ViewController. I tested this on a small test project and viewDidLoad would only be triggered once when the ViewController was instantiated.

SwiftUI FileImporter errors
When using FileImporter in SwiftUI, the following error is always returned when closed; even if the user taps "Cancel" The view service did terminate with error: Error Domain=_UIViewServiceErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)" UserInfo={Terminated=disconnect method} Recreation rate is 10/10. It feels like a threading issue, but in SwiftUI we are leveraging the .fileImporter modifier, so we cannot hold on to the reference like we would in a class. Is there a different approach we should be using for this? Code for recreation import SwiftUI struct ContentView: View { @State private var fileURL: URL? @State private var showFileImporter: Bool = false var body: some View { VStack { if let fileURL { Text(fileURL.absoluteString) } Button { showFileImporter = true } label: { Text("Select PDF") } .fileImporter( isPresented: $showFileImporter, allowedContentTypes: [.pdf], allowsMultipleSelection: true ) { result in switch result { case .success(let files): files.forEach { file in let gotAccess = file.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() if !gotAccess { return } fileURL = file file.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() } case .failure(let error): print(error) } } } } }

MapKit causing TabBar Overwrite
Hi everyone! I am having a bit of trouble with why my Map() is overwriting my customized tabBar settings. Specifically my tab bar background. (White -> Black) Map(position: $cameraPosition) { UserAnnotation() } .toolbarBackground(.hidden, for: .tabBar) This above ^ is a view which acts as a tab view for my tab bar. I have customized my tab bar as follows just so it was obvious to see me changes. let tabAppearance = UITabBarAppearance() tabAppearance.configureWithOpaqueBackground() tabAppearance.backgroundColor = .white UITabBar.appearance().standardAppearance = tabAppearance UITabBar.appearance().scrollEdgeAppearance = tabAppearance I have tried implementing solutions which is seen with my .toolbar attempt but nothing has help. I would like the tab bar to be consistent with all of my views and from my understanding the Map is overwriting those settings.

RePlayKit:screen recording method return sampleBuffer is nil
I want record screen in my app,the method startCaptureWithHandler:completionHandler:,the sampleBuffer, It is supposed to exist but it has become nil.Not only that,but there‘s another problem,when I want to stop recording and save the video,I will check [RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder].recording first, it will be false sometime,that problems are unusual in iOS 18.3.2 iPhoneXs Max,and unexpected,here is my code -(void)startCaptureScreen { NSLog(@"AKA++ startCaptureScreen"); if ([[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder] isRecording]) { return; } //屏幕录制 [[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder]setMicrophoneEnabled:YES]; NSLog(@"AKA++ MicrophoneEnabled AAAA startCaptureScreen"); [[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder]setCameraEnabled:YES]; [[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder] startCaptureWithHandler:^(CMSampleBufferRef _Nonnull sampleBuffer, RPSampleBufferType bufferType, NSError * _Nullable error) { if(self.assetWriter == nil){ if (self.AVAssetWriterStatus == 0) { [self setupAssetWriterAndStartWith:sampleBuffer]; } } if (self.AVAssetWriterStatus != 2) { return; } if (error) { // deal with error return; } if (self.assetWriter.status != AVAssetWriterStatusWriting) { [self assetWriterAppendSampleBufferFailWith:bufferType]; return; } if (bufferType == RPSampleBufferTypeVideo) { if(self.assetWriter.status == 0 ||self.assetWriter.status > 2){ } else if(self.videoAssetWriterInput.readyForMoreMediaData == YES){ BOOL success = [self.videoAssetWriterInput appendSampleBuffer:sampleBuffer]; } } if (bufferType == RPSampleBufferTypeAudioMic) { if(self.assetWriter.status == 0 ||self.assetWriter.status > 2){ } else if(self.audioAssetWriterInput.readyForMoreMediaData == YES){ BOOL success = [self.audioAssetWriterInput appendSampleBuffer:sampleBuffer]; } } } completionHandler:^(NSError * _Nullable error) { //deal with error }]; } and than ,when want to save it : -(void)stopRecording { if([[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder] isRecording]){ // The problem is sporadic,recording action failed,it makes me confused } [[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder] stopCaptureWithHandler:^(NSError * _Nullable error) { if(!error) { //post message } }]; }

AppKit: presentAsModalWindow doesn't center the presented window on macOS 15
When I present a view controller, whose view is a SwiftUI View, via presentAsModalWindow(_:) the presented window is no longer centered horizontally to the screen, but rather its origin is there. I know this issue occurs for macOS 15.2+, but can't tell if it is from 15.0+. I couldn't find any documentation on why was this changed. Here's an example code that represents my architecture: class RootViewController: NSViewController { private lazy var button: NSButton = NSButton( title: "Present", target: self, action: #selector(presentView)) override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() // Add button to tree } @objc func presentView() { presentAsModalWindow(PresentedViewController()) } } class PresentedViewController: NSViewController { override loadView() { view = NSHostingView(rootView: MyView()) } } struct MyView: View { /* impl */ }

Trigger save of a FileDocument in a DocumentGroup?
I have a DocumentGroup working with a FileDocument, and that's fine. However, when someone creates a new document I want them to have to immediately save it. This is the behavior on ipadOS and iOS from what I can understand (you select where before the file is created). There seems to be no way to do this on macOS? I basically want to have someone: create a new document enter some basic data hit "create" which saves the file then lets the user start editing it (1), (2), and (4) are done and fairly trivial. (3) seems impossible, though...? This really only needs to support macOS but any pointers would be appreciated.

SwiftUI FileDocument: Modify the default save dialog
Is it possible to change the default save dialog that appears when creating a document based MacOS app in SwiftUI? I have a basic FileDocument struct that gets called to a view using a DocumentGroup scene. struct MyFile: FileDocument { static let readableContentTypes: [UTType] = [.myFileType] static let writeableContentTypes: [UTType] = [.myFileType] var list: [String] init(configuration: ReadConfiguration) throws { let data = configuration.file.regularFileContents! let JSONDecoder = JSONDecoder() do { try list = JSONDecoder.decode([String].self, from: data) } catch { throw CocoaError(.fileReadCorruptFile) } } func fileWrapper(configuration: WriteConfiguration) throws -> FileWrapper { let JSONEncoder = JSONEncoder() JSONEncoder.outputFormatting = .prettyPrinted do { data = try JSONEncoder.encode(self.list) } catch { print(error.localizedDescription) throw CocoaError(.fileWriteUnknown) } return .init(regularFileWithContents: data) } } This gets called at the DocumentGroup DocumentGroup(newDocument: MyFile(), editor: { document in ContentView(document: document.$document) }) But when I save the file, I want the save dialog that appears to have something like a 'Tags' textField that can also store information about the file. Something similar to this: (https://i.sstatic.net/AJQ3YNb8.png) From what I can find, there isn't much information about this other than manually creating an NSSavePanel class and overriding the current save function

Live Activity resets to initial state after 8+ hours in background
Hi Apple team and community, We’re encountering a strange issue with Live Activity that seems related to memory management or background lifecycle. ❓ Issue: Our app updates a Live Activity regularly (every 3 minutes) using .update(...). However, after the app remains in the background for around 8 hours, the Live Activity reverts to the initial state that was passed into .request(...). Even though the app continues sending updates in the background, the UI on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island resets to the original state.

SwiftData predicate for many to many relationships?
Hello, I have a Task model in my application which has an optional many to many relationship to a User model. task.assignedUsers user.tasks I am looking to construct a SwiftData predicate to fetch tasks which either have no assigned users or assigned users does not contain specific user. Here is a partially working predicate I have now: static func assignedToOthersPredicate() -> Predicate<Task> { let currentUserGUID = User.currentUserGUID return #Predicate<Task> { task in task.assignedUsers.flatMap { users in users.contains(where: { $0.guid != currentUserGUID }) } == true } } This only returns tasks assigned to others, but not those which have no assigned users. If combine it with this: static func notAssignedPredicate() -> Predicate<Task> { return #Predicate<Task> { task in task.assignedUsers == nil } } Then I get a run time crash: "to-many key not allowed here" What is the proper way to do this? Thanks.
