Hello!
I recall guidance for Alternate App Icons used to be under 4.6 and stated that:
each change is initiated by the user and the app includes settings to revert to the original icon.
However, I see that section 4.6 was removed on June 10, 2024, and now shows up as "Intentionally omitted".
Does this mean that under the current guidance an app is now allowed to trigger an icon change without the user input, and does not need to provide the option to revert it back?
Thanks!

I decided to try out XCode 26.2s new AI abilities but I only get a "Your request couldn't be completed". When clicking the details button I get see this error:
InferenceError::unspecifiedUnderlyingError::Error(message: "Unknown parameter: 'tool_call_outputs'.", type: "invalid_request_error", code: Optional("unknown_parameter"), privacyPassRedemptionResponse: nil, userFacingLocalizedErrorMessage: nil)
How do I fix that?
I'm building a macOS network monitor using NEFilterDataProvider as a system extension, distributed with Developer ID signing. On macOS 26.3 (Tahoe), sysextd consistently rejects the activation request with "no policy, cannot allow apps outside /Applications" — despite the app being in /Applications and passing every verification check.
I'm aware of the known Xcode NE signing bug (r. 108838909) and have followed the manual signing process from Exporting a Developer ID Network Extension. I've also tried both xcodebuild build and xcodebuild archive workflows — identical failure.
Environment
macOS
26.3 (25D125), SIP enabled
Xcode
26.3 (17C529)
Hardware
Apple M2 Pro
Certificate
Developer ID Application (issued Jan 30, 2026 — 27 days old)
MDM/Profiles
None installed
Signing & Verification (all pass)
$ spctl -a -vv /Applications/Chakshu.app
/Applications/Chakshu.app: accepted
source=Notarized Developer ID
origin=Developer ID Application: ROBIN SHARMA (R65679C4F3)
$ codesign --verify --deep --strict -vv /Applications/Chakshu.app
/Applications/Chakshu.app: valid on disk
/Applications/Chakshu.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement
$ xcrun stapler validate /Applications/Chakshu.app
The validate action worked!
App signing:
Authority=Developer ID Application: ROBIN SHARMA (R65679C4F3)
Authority=Developer ID Certification Authority
Authority=Apple Root CA
TeamIdentifier=R65679C4F3
Runtime Version=26.2.0
Notarization Ticket=stapled
App entitlements:
com.apple.application-identifier = R65679C4F3.dev.indrasvat.chakshu
com.apple.developer.team-identifier = R65679C4F3
com.apple.developer.system-extension.install = true
com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension = [content-filter-provider-systemextension]
keychain-access-groups = [R65679C4F3.*]
Extension signing: Same Developer ID authority, same team, same timestamp. Extension entitlements match (minus system-extension.install). Developer ID provisioning profiles are embedded in both app and extension.
What sysextd logs
Captured Feb 26, 2026 from log stream --predicate 'process == "sysextd"':
sysextd [com.apple.sx:XPC] client activation request for dev.indrasvat.chakshu.filter
sysextd attempting to realize extension with identifier dev.indrasvat.chakshu.filter
sysextd (Security) SecKeyVerifySignature ← pass (×2)
sysextd (Security) SecTrustEvaluateIfNecessary ← pass (×2)
sysextd [com.apple.xpc:connection] activating connection: name=com.apple.CodeSigningHelper
sysextd [com.apple.xpc:connection] invalidated after the last release
sysextd no policy, cannot allow apps outside /Applications
sysextd [com.apple.sx:XPC] client connection invalidated
Signature and trust evaluation pass. CodeSigningHelper completes. Then the policy check fails. The app receives OSSystemExtensionError code 4 (extensionNotFound).
What I've tried and ruled out
Build process:
Approach
Result
xcodebuild build -configuration Release + manual re-sign
Same failure
xcodebuild archive + export from archive + manual re-sign (per thread/737894)
Same failure
Minimal hand-crafted Xcode project (no xcodegen, trivial code)
Same failure
Both workflows follow Quinn's process exactly: build with Apple Development → copy app → embed Developer ID provisioning profiles → re-sign inside-out (extension first, then app) with -systemextension suffix entitlements → notarize → staple → install to /Applications.
System-level checks:
Rebooting — no change
Killing sysextd — no change
Removing com.apple.quarantine xattr — no change
chown root:wheel on app bundle — no change
lsregister -r (reset Launch Services) — no change
Waiting 27 days for certificate propagation — no change
Reinstalling via Finder drag-to-Applications — no change
No MDM or configuration profiles installed
/Library/SystemExtensions/db.plist shows extensionPolicies: [] (empty)
Key observation
Pre-existing network extensions activated before macOS 26 work fine on this machine. For example, Tailscale's NEPacketTunnelProvider shows state: activated_enabled in the system extensions database — it was activated on a prior macOS version and is still running. Only new system extension activations fail.
I've seen similar Tahoe-specific reports from LuLu (same NEFilterDataProvider type, Developer ID distribution):
LuLu #825
LuLu #831
Questions
Is this a known regression in macOS 26's sysextd policy evaluation for new Developer ID system extension activations?
sysextd's policy check fails after all signature and trust evaluation succeeds. Is there a separate trust/policy path that sysextd consults beyond what spctl, codesign, and CodeSigningHelper verify?
Is there anything else I should be checking?
I have a sysdiagnose captured immediately after the failure, a minimal reproducer project, and full raw sysextd logs available on request.
Since the beta releases of iPadOS 26 we have been having some crashes about
Invalid parameter not satisfying: parentEnvironment != nil
We got to contact a couple of users and we found out that the crash appears when entering a screen in a UINavigationController with the iPad device connected to a Magic Keyboard. If the device is not connected to the keyboard then nothing happens and everything works ok.
From our end we haven't managed to reproduce the crash so I am pasting part of the stacktrace if it can be of any help.

My app is correctly signed and notarised. The first user had to completely uninstall/reinstall the app and the everything worked again.
Why does this happen? How can the problem be fixed?
We recently developed the provisional permission for our app, but we have noticed that is not working as expected in iOS 16 (We have tested only there).
Currently we request the permissions like this:
UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.alert, .badge, .sound, .provisional]) { [weak self] _, _ in
// here we register for pushes in case authorizationStatus is provisional or authorised
}
What happens is we do get the 1st notification with the keep CTA - once tapped we see that there pops an action: "Deliver Immediately", but even though the user selects that, we still see under setting the pushes are marked as "Deliver Quietly".
In addition to this the sound and bage still stay as toggled off - and the lock screen and banner as well stay off.
Basically, nothing changes after the user selects "Deliver Immediately"
Hello,
I have an app that is using iOS 26 Network Framework APIs.
It is using QUIC, TLS 1.3 and Bonjour. For TLS I am using a PKCS#12 identity.
All works well and as expected if the devices (iPhone with no cellular, iPhone with cellular, and iPad no cellular) are all on the same wifi network.
If I turn off my router (ie no more wifi network) and leave on the wifi toggle on the iOS devices - only the non cellular iPhone and iPad are able to discovery and connect to each other. My iPhone with cellular is not able to.
By sharing my logs with Cursor AI it was determined that the connection between the two problematic peers (iPad with no cellular and iPhone with cellular) never even makes it to the TLS step because I never see the logs where I print out the certs I compare.
I tried doing "builder.requiredInterfaceType(.wifi)" but doing that blocked the two non cellular devices from working. I also tried "builder.prohibitedInterfaceTypes([.cellular])" but that also did not work.
Is AWDL on it's way out? Should I focus my energy on Wi-Fi Aware?
Regards,
Captadoh
To use passkeys, you need to place the correct AASA file on the web server and add an entry in the Entitlements.plist, for example webcredentials:mydomain.com.
This is clear so far, but I would like to ask if it's possible to set this webcredentials in a different way in the app?
The reason for this is that we are developing a native app and our on-premise customers have their own web servers. We cannot know these domains in advance so creating a dedicated app for each customer is not option for us.
Thank you for your help!

When I have a TextField or TextEditor, tapping into it produces these two console entries about 18 times each:
CHHapticPattern.mm:487 +[CHHapticPattern patternForKey:error:]: Failed to read pattern library data: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=260 "The file “hapticpatternlibrary.plist” couldn’t be opened because there is no such file." My app does not use haptics.
This doesn't appear to cause any issues, although entering text can feel a bit sluggish (even on device), but I am unable to determine relatedness. None-the-less, it definitely is a lot of log noise.
Code to reproduce in simulator (xcode 26.2; ios 26 or 18, with iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro):
import SwiftUI
struct ContentView: View {
@State private var textEntered: String = ""
@State private var textEntered2: String = ""
@State private var textEntered3: String = ""
var body: some View {
VStack {
Spacer()
TextField("Tap Here", text: $textEntered)
TextField("Tap Here Too", text: $textEntered2)
TextEditor(text: $textEntered3)
.overlay(RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 8).strokeBorder(.primary, lineWidth: 1))
.frame(height: 100)
Spacer()
}
}
}
#Preview {
ContentView()
}
Tapping back and forth in these fields generates the errors each time.
Thanks,
Steve
Hello,I dunno if this is the right place to ask this, but i have tried to enroll for almost two weeks now, and there is no reply at all with next step in the enrollment process, the message says it will be processed within 48 hrs.for reference i am outside the united states. and enrolling as personal developer not an ORG.
My app has been in "Waiting for Review" since February 19, 2026. It has been over 10 days with no status change. Submission ID: 4577f492-606e-4615-9cc5-05c35da79ff9
There are no rejection notices and no messages in Resolution Center. I have contacted Developer Support but received no resolution.
The average review time is 24-48 hours. Could someone please look into this?
Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I am writing this out of pure desperation because I honestly don't know what else to do or where to turn. My app has been stuck in the review process since February 9th (almost 3 weeks now), and I feel like I am completely trapped in a black box.
I have tried every official channel available to get at least some information:
I submitted requests for an expedited review.
I opened 3 separate tickets with Developer Support, but received absolutely zero response. Just complete, deafening silence.
I finally called the developer hotline. The representative was polite but completely unhelpful. I was basically told that "everything is fine, this timeline is normal, we can't do anything to help you, just keep waiting."
Just to put this wait time into perspective, while sitting in this Apple "black box" waiting for a single message, I have managed to do the following:
Registered a Google Play Developer account and fully verified my identity.
Almost completely rewrote my entire app from scratch, translating it from Swift to Kotlin.
Uploaded the Android version, got it approved, and I am already on Day 8 of closed testing in Google Play!
Meanwhile, in App Store Connect, absolutely nothing has changed. No status updates, no rejections, no questions from the reviewers, no replies to my tickets. Just an absolute void.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of extreme delay and complete lack of communication recently?
For context, here are my details:
Submission ID: db1ffb72-8f0f-49bc-b215-179e1e179b7d
Apple ID: 6756239914
Any advice or shared experiences would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi,
I’m trying to reliably detect when system screen recording finishes, and I’m observing behavior that I don’t fully understand when a Live Activity is expanded via Dynamic Island.
Environment
Devices: iPhone 16 Pro
iOS: 26.2
Xcode: 26.2
Using UIScreen.isCaptured and UIWindowScene.sceneCaptureState
Implementation:
I observe capture state like this:
private var observation: NSKeyValueObservation?
func startObserving() {
observation = UIScreen.main.observe(\.isCaptured, options: [.new]) { _, change in
print("isCaptured:", change.newValue ?? false)
}
}
I also check: window.traitCollection.sceneCaptureState
Steps to Reproduce
Start system screen recording from Control Center.
Confirm UIScreen.main.isCaptured == true.
Expand a Live Activity via the Dynamic Island (e.g. timer or call).
Observe capture state values while the Live Activity UI is expanded.
Observed Behavior
While screen recording is still active:
UIScreen.main.isCaptured becomes false
sceneCaptureState becomes .inactive
This state persists while the recording Live Activity is expanded
The system recording indicator remains visible
The device continues recording
Expected Behavior (or Clarification Needed)
My understanding was that UIScreen.isCaptured indicates whether the device screen is currently being captured (e.g. screen recording or mirroring).
However, this behavior suggests that both isCaptured and sceneCaptureState reflect whether the current scene is part of the capture surface, rather than whether device-level recording is active.
Is this the intended behavior when system-owned surfaces (such as expanded Live Activities) are promoted above the app’s scene?
If so:
Is there any supported way to reliably detect device-level screen recording state (as opposed to scene-level capture participation), in order to trigger logic when recording finishes?
Thank you for any clarification.

Since updating to macOS 26.4 developerbeta 2 I've been getting full loss of dns resolution. I am not running a VPN or any network extensions that I am aware of.
I'm not sure how to report this in the feedback utility as I cannot find an appropriate category for it. Happy to file it if someone can give an appropriate suggestion - the closest I could see was Wi-Fi but that wanted Wi-Fi logs for the issue, which I do not believe to be needed as this is not a Wi-Fi connectivity issue.
Running
dig example.com +short
nslookup example.com
ping example.com
Gives the following output
104.18.27.120
104.18.26.120
Server: 10.0.1.1
Address: 10.0.1.1#53 \
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: example.com
Address: 104.18.26.120
Name: example.com
Address: 104.18.27.120 \
ping: cannot resolve example.com: Unknown host
This shows it's not an issue with my local network and that core networking is working, but something in the mDNSResponder/dns stack of macOS is failing. This causes all apps/browsers that do not implement their own DNS lookups to fail (Chrome still works).
Sometimes the issue clears after running the following commands (for a period), sometimes it does not. A restart always resolves the issue temporarily.
sudo killall -9 mDNSResponder
sudo killall -9 mDNSResponderHelper
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
sudo ifconfig en0 down
sudo ifconfig en0 up

I'm using NEPacketTunnelProvider to intercept DNS queries, forward them upstream,
and inject the responses back via writePacketObjects().
This works correctly for responses under ~500 bytes. For larger responses (~893
bytes, e.g. DNS CERT records), writePacketObjects() returns without error but
mDNSResponder never receives the packet — it retries 3–4 times and then times out.
What I have verified:
IP and UDP checksums are correct
UDP length and IP total length fields are correct
Maximum packet size (MTU) set to 1500 in NEIPv4Settings/NEIPv6Settings
Approaches tried:
Injecting the full 921-byte packet — writePacketObjects() succeeds but the
packet never reaches mDNSResponder
IP-level fragmentation — fragments appear to be silently dropped
Setting the TC (truncation) bit — mDNSResponder does not retry over TCP
Truncating the response to ≤512 bytes — the packet arrives but the data is
incomplete
Questions:
Is there a supported way to deliver a DNS response larger than 512 bytes
through NEPacketTunnelFlow?
Does NEPacketTunnelProvider impose an undocumented packet size limit below
the configured MTU?
Does mDNSResponder silently discard responses larger than 512 bytes when the
original query had no EDNS0 OPT record? Is there a way to signal that larger
responses are supported?
Are IP-level fragments reliably delivered through writePacketObjects()?
Tested on iOS 26.3, physical device.

My app has been sitting in "Waiting For Review" for a month now, this coming week. I understand that it takes some time to review an app but I didn't realize it takes this long. I have deployed apps in the past and it took 1-2 days only. I just couldn't understand what's taking it that long this time. The app ID of the app I recently submitted is 6756655072. Please provide at least a specific timeframe of the review process so developers can also manage properly. It's really difficult to be patient in something that doesn't even respond properly. Please help and hope you see this post from a dev's point of view. Thank you.
Is it somehow possible to get the transport layer (UDP and TCP) payload amounts for TLS or QUIC connections established via the Network framework? (From within the app itself that establishes the connections.)
I am currently using the ntstat.h kernel socket calls, but I hope there is a simpler solution.
With ntstat, I have not yet been able to observe a specific connection. I have to search for the connection I am looking in all (userspace) connections.
Hi everyone,
I enrolled in the Apple Developer Program on February 1, 2026.
I completed payment, signed the agreement, and uploaded my government-issued ID after support requested identity verification.
I received confirmation that my documents were received, but my membership is still pending.
It has now been over three weeks with no activation or clear update.
I have contacted support multiple times and even called, but I am still waiting.
Has anyone experienced a similar delay recently?
Is this normal for identity verification in certain regions?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
